Nicole and Matt met at an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party in December 2019. Nicole knew she had to get to know Matt when she saw how hideous his sweater was. Matt's lack of style paid off for once as he actually had no idea the party was themed. Nicole and Matt met for a date at a board game bar the following Thursday. Matt was impressed by Nicole's dedication to the 76ers and her willingness to let him win at Sequence (so she claims), even though it was his first time playing. We're still not sure what she was impressed by, but things must have gone well as she invited him out to meet her best friends from college who were visiting that weekend. Nicole and Matt talked frequently despite an early test to their relationship in the form of a global pandemic that saw Nicole spend a month with her parents in PA. Against CDC recommendations, they met back up in person after Nicole returned to DC and have been inseparable since. Although that was a trying time for the country and world, Nicole and Matt are thankful for the significant time getting to know each other with minimal distractions and the early opportunity to support one another through a period of uncertainty. The subsequent years have been less eventful, although no less fun. There have been birthdays and weddings, holidays and job changes, karaoke and tennis, lots of family time, and a romantic trip to Norway. Matt even learned how to cook and planned an engagement, proof that Nicole is a fantastic educator. If you're still reading this, you should put your phone down and go outside or get back to work. Just kidding - please shoot us a text to say hey. Because that's what this is all about - celebrating our love with the people we care about most. We can't wait to see you in May 2025.
