Braeden and Kelcey met ten years ago in high school while attending Student Venture, an on-campus church group, at Great Oak High School. While it wouldn’t be until after undergrad that they became romantically interested in one another, they became close friends and hung out in the same friend group throughout high school. For college Kelcey moved to La Mirada while Braeden stayed local. Toward the end of Kelcey’s undergraduate education, when Kelcey was home for Christmas, she reached out to Braeden to organize a get together with all of their friends from high school who were in town for the holidays. After several mishaps, they finally figured out a time that worked for the two of them to make it happen. Long story short: Only Braeden and Kelcey showed up. Over the course of an hour the two caught up, and both left stunned by how the other had grown over the past four years. The friendship had been there for ten years, yet now a spark was there. They started to look for reasons to constantly hangout with each other, but they both were oblivious to the signs the other was dropping and just assumed the other person was super nice. Seven months later, still not certain whether the feelings were mutual or not, Braeden took a shot in the dark and asked Kelcey on a date. Kelcey said yes! They went out on a date to sushi, Santa Rosa Plateau, and ice cream where they talked about just nearly everything two people could talk about. It was clear after that to both Braeden and Kelcey that something was there. So they went on another date. And another. And another. Until they made the relationship official. Then Facebook official (because that’s a thing now apparently). After two years of dating, the two went on a trip to the Redwoods where Braeden proposed. Kelcey said yes! We are so excited for our marriage and to celebrate with our whole community.
