About 45 minute drive from Missoula. The bison herd there descends from a free-ranging Reservation herd started by Tribal members in the 1800’s when plains bison were near extinction. Congress has now restored the Bison Range to federal trust ownership for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) so that our award-winning natural resource managers can take over as stewards of the Range’s buffalo, wildlife and land.
If you want to extend the trip for a few days, now is the time to visit beautiful Glacier National Park! The park is about a 2.5 hour drive from Missoula. Please ask us questions or for recommendations. The glaciers are quickly disappearing, so you’ll want to go sooner than later!

River City Roots Festival is a free festival/concert that takes place downtown. There will be food trucks, bluegrass music, drinks, and local arts and crafts. Friday and Saturday
Hiking- it’s what we do for “fun” in Montana. There are some hiking trails around town such as Pattee Canyon, Blue Mountain, Waterworks, Maclay Flats, “The M”
What can we say- Missoula is known for its many quality breweries. Draught Works is one of the best in town and has a nice patio. Other breweries we recommend are Kettlehouse, ImagineNation, and Gild.
The rivers around Missoula are famous for fishing. Please check the regulations.

If you’re looking for ice cream, Big Dipper is Missoula’s best spots. Don’t be surprised if the line is long, that’s part of the experience! It’s a hotly debated discussion of who is better- Big Dipper or Sweet Peaks… try them both and decide for yourself!
There is a great Frisbee Golf course up at Pattee Canyon on the edge of town. It’s beautiful and a nice walk in the woods. Ask us about details, we will give you the scoop!
This is a lovely stroll through a protected bird habitat. Bring your binoculars! About a 45 min drive from Missoula, you could spend about an hour here- the drive is beautiful as well. You could pair it with a trip to Bitterroot Brewing in Hamilton after your walk.
This is our local in-town ski hill. In the summer, they have a chairlift running for sightseeing and access to the frisbee golf course and hiking around. It’s beautiful, and there’s a frisbee golf course at the top! Ps this may or may not be the secret huckleberry picking spot…

One of the most popular restaurants in town, everybody eats at The Bridge. Delicious pizzas, salads, pasta and sandwiches. More on the casual side. The Bridge Pizza is a Missoula fixture
