"When they ask us how we met, we'll say we met at Callahan's in Peoria." The real stories. Kayleigh's Version: Some friends and I were at Pub II at ISU the night of the 2013 Stanley Cup Championship. I was convinced to set up a Match.com profile. After all, one free meal and it pays for itself, right? During a date with someone else, I realized I had been checking my phone the entire time to see if Andy had responded to me yet. Fast forward 2 weeks and Andy and I had our first date at Destihl in Normal, Il. I made sure to make him come to me so I had an easy escape plan if needed, but alas, I did not need that escape plan. The date lasted so long they had to kick us out. A few days after we both agreed we were deleting our Match.com profiles and the rest is history. Andy's Version: I had been trying out the online dating thing for a few months back in 2013 without much luck. I came across Kayleigh's profile and sent a "wink" her direction. Apparently, my polished writing skills demonstrated in my profile (and on display here) convinced her I was worthy of a return "wink." After several messages, we exchanged numbers which turned into hundreds of texts/calls prior to our first date (for the record, she asked for my number first). Our first date was about 4 hours of talking and laughing which is when I knew it was something special. Honestly, we only drank 2 beers in the 4 hours which is a testimony to the chemistry. The several dinners and time spent together following that confirmed it. To be sure I could seal the deal, I brought her with me to bring home a puppy (#adoptdontshop) on the 4th date. Hook, line and sinker. Take notes, fellas.
