The summer of 2019 was an epic one and was made better because we got together. After connecting through mutual friends, we spent all summer watching soccer, adventuring outside, drinking coffee & cocktails, and building the best friendship as a foundation. September came and Kalen knew it was time to make it official; he asked Kaylee to "go steady" while slow dancing in the kitchen of his one bedroom apartment. Kaylee of course said yes, and 5 years later we get to celebrate their marriage!

As someone who is impossible to surprise, Kaylee knew a proposal was imminent in the summer of 2023 (yes, she picked out her engagement ring also. She's practical, okay??). The where and the how though, that was the surprise. A month before the decided date, Kaylee's parents told her they were coming into town and her dad let her know to reserve the Sunday of their visit for "plans".... Cue immediate suspicion..... Their visit came smack dab in the middle of summer travel but it was the most relaxing weekend. Kalen planned a surprise dinner at Mclemore Golf Club up on Lookout Mountain, but told Kaylee they were going up there without a reservation and just a hope of getting a table. They arrived at Mclemore and went to look at the view and BAM Kalen was on one knee saying "will you marry me?" Kaylee tossed her purse about 40 feet in shock and had QUITE the exclamation, eventually saying "YES OF COURSE!!!" They celebrated with a dinner in the clouds with both families and their closest friends. Kalen kept one thing a total surprise though, he coordinated with Kaylee's bestie and matron of honor Anna Marie and her husband Will to get them to drive down from Wisconsin and pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate the proposal! We are so happy everyone is here to keep the celebration rolling with us. See you in Chattanooga!
