Katy + Brett met in Spanish class freshman year at Palmyra High. She would do Brett's homework in exchange for gum after lunch period. Coincidentally, they also were neighbors and rode the same bus together. For weeks, Brett had insisted she come over after school to play video games. One day, Katy actually followed through, much to his surprise. The rest was history, filled with a ton of inside jokes, college visits, many years of long distance and a move to New York City.

After nearly 12 years of dating, Katy had hunches this day was just around the corner. She went home to visit family on Labor Day weekend, and thought it was suspicious Brett was not making the trip with her. Throughout the weekend, Brett was throwing her off the trail with photos from work, asking for trader joe's grocery lists and even meeting up with his mom to pick up a care package from his nana to take back to the city. Katy was getting ready to go to a winery with family and friends Sunday evening, when she discovered a big yellow school bus pull up to her house. It wasn't long until she spotted Brett in his finest suit, down on one knee.
