Our Story

"distance" makes the heart grow fonder

Seth and I met during high school, and although I had a major crush on him, we were only ever "just friends." Despite never dating, though, there was always a certain attraction between us. Our flirty friendship continued for a few years, but it wasn't until I moved away for college -- and had a date with a different guy-- that Seth officially asked me to be his girlfriend, sometime in 2011. I was in Athens, GA and Seth in Baton Rouge, LA. Starting then, long-distance dating was our normal. Between the two of us, we have lived in 9 different places (including other countries) over the course of our relationship, only 3 of which where we lived there at the same time. Needless to say, when I started graduate school and joined Seth in Baton Rouge, we were beyond ready to finally have a "real" relationship in the same city. Baton Rouge has since become a special place in our relationship for that reason. ....but the distance didn't end there! After spending 2 additional years apart when a job took me to South Carolina, we made the decision to move to Dallas, TX, together. After many years and many miles, we are so excited to finally be getting married. Here's to a lifetime of togetherness!

The Proposal

03.08.2019

Seth says proposing was on his mind long before it happened, and it took everything in him not to just ask me as soon as he got the ring, but we had a trip planned to visit my twin sister, Becky, and her husband, Danny, in New York, so the scheming took shape around that. After a few hours in the MET, as we were strolling home through Central Park, we decided to stop to take some pictures (all part of the plan) in a beautifully quiet and surprisingly empty area of the park known as "The Ramble." We had taken a few pictures together, when Seth turns to me while messing with his pockets, apparently "looking for his gloves." Before I knew it, he was down on one knee! Tears forming in my eyes, we just looked at each other, speechless. After a few seconds, still looking up at me with a beautiful ring in his hand, Seth asked me to spend forever with him. It wasn't until the next day that he said "I don't think I even asked if you will marry me. Will you marry me?" It was the easiest "yes" I have ever said! We're so happy to start this next chapter of our lives with you. See you in Baton Rouge!
