If only I had a dollar for every time I’ve had to tell this story over the last 7 years! Luke Bryan - June 6th, 2014. Never in a million years did I think this was going to be the day I met the guy I was going to spend the rest of my life with. My night started with 1, or 5, too many Mangorita’s at the tailgate (sorry mom & dad) and having to keep watch on security patrolling the fence so my best friend could hop the (not so short) fence at the VA Beach amphitheater because he didn’t even buy a ticket... still very impressed Tyler. Anyways, I could already tell this was going to end bad. So Tyler made it over the fence without getting arrested, only to pawn me off to the first person he recognized. He saw Thomas, who he barely knew from the gym. Yelled something to him and literally RAN AWAY, leaving me with this stranger. In the moment, I was so mad. But little did I know this would be the best thing to ever happen to me. I spent the rest of the night listening to the concert with this random guy. The end of the night came and he didn’t even ask me for my number... *chicken* A week later I went out to eat with a few friends. As I walked in, guess who’s holding the door open for me? We smiled, said hi and then he left... STILL NOTHING. I told the friend I was with about the night we met and that I wasn’t sure why he never asked for my number. So, she took it upon herself to run out to his truck and give him my number. Lo and behold, I finally got a text!! It was graduation week and we were all heading down to OBX for beach week. Thomas knew I was going to be there, but not exactly where... I was out at a party (again, sorry mom & dad) and I looked up to see Thomas walking up the stairs, we locked eyes and I got so scared I ran away. Not my finest moment. When we got back home, our first official date was on my birthday and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Looking forward to a lifetime of continuously telling this story. You’re still a chicken though.❤️
Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I’d like to take a minute so just sit right there and I’ll tell you how I became the luckiest man in the world. Well let me be serious for once and get into the story and tell y’all about our first “meet cute”, as they call it. I was at a Luke Bryan concert in Va Beach on June 6, 2014 having a good time listening to the music and hanging with friends until I ran into Tyler Ulisse. Tyler and I talked very briefly until he introduced me to Katie and literally ran away. I thought it was weird at first but I couldn’t have cared more as I got to listen to music and drink a few adult beverages with a beautiful woman. It’s crazy to think that such a run-in would become such an amazing 7 years. So, if you have read Katie’s “meet cute” before mine, just know that I am not a chicken…I am just a very dumb, lucky chicken. So after our amazing night Katie and I split ways until a random week night at Brickhouse when we ran into each other again. Me, being the dumb, lucky chicken that I was did not ask for her phone number again…thank God for Katie’s friends. Thanks to Katie’s friends, I got Katie’s phone number and this is where our story began to grab traction. She had told me she was going to Nags Head for the weekend and I knew I had to see her again. So I convinced a friend of mine, Tyler Felty, to tag along and ride with me to Nags Head. The first night we get to Nags Head, Felty told me his cousin was having a party nearby, so we decided to go to the party. However, to my surprise, the first person I see when I come through the door at this party is, yes, Katie staring at me before she runs away from me. Don’t worry, I found her and I’m not letting go. You know what they say about fate is that the love of your life is meant to cross your path only once, except for me. Fate gave me multiple chances of having Katie in my life forever and I couldn’t have been luckier!
