Just as most good things start, Katie and Matt first locked eyes while playing drinking games with friends. It was April of 2016 - Katie had recently moved back from Chicago; Matt from Boston. Thanks to two mutual friends playing matchmaker, the day meandered to bar hopping in Northeast Minneapolis. A fiercely competitive game of Flip Cup Connect-4 broke out and Katie exclaimed, "Matt, I hope you know I hate losing". He had found his match. It's no secret Katie was excited to get engaged, but Matt had one requirement before popping the question. The self proclaimed Harry Potter enthusiast needed to read all seven books start to finish - movies didn't cut it. 9 months later the two were engaged in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Fast forward to the summer of 2021. Katie put herself through nursing school and now works as a nurse at Region's Hospital in St. Paul on the post-op neurosurgical floor. Matt started and runs Swannies, a golf apparel brand. They recently bought a house in Stillwater, MN, and couldn't be more excited to begin their next chapter with each other in marriage. The two are incredibly grateful for the support of their family and friends and can't wait to share this day with everyone very soon.
