In true millennial fashion, we met on Bumble. So, yes, Katie had to message first, and thank god we both swiped right! For our first date, Marc took Katie to Terrapin in Rhinebeck. True to form, she spilled her drink all over the table. Thankfully, Marc found this "charming," and the rest is history.
New Year's Eve is always a special holiday for us because it was the first holiday we spent together, and it's Marc and Katie's "official" dating anniversary. Our New Year's Eve traditions generally include a fancy dinner out, followed by an evening of Monopoly and watching Phish's livestream from Madison Square Garden. NYE 2020 was slightly different because of the pandemic, so our fancy dinner out had turned into takeout, and Phish had cancelled their NYE show. Little did Katie know that Marc had been planning to propose at sunset at "our spot" at Clermont State Park, but in true 2020 fashion, the weather had other plans: it rained. Luckily, Marc is a natural romantic, and he thought to hide the ring in our Christmas tree for Katie to find, just after midnight as we were toasting to the New Year...exactly two years ago after he had asked her to be his girlfriend.
