Joel and Katie met at Jacob and Christina's wedding in July 2021. The two were both a part of the wedding party; Katie was a bridesmaid and Joel was the Best Man. Katie had been friends with Christina since 2014 when they became each other's Big Sister and Little Sister in their Sorority. Jacob and Joel are brothers (*by birth not by Greek life). Joel and Katie were in Louisville for the joint bachelor and bachelorette party where they met, although love was not quite in the air for them. 3 weeks later, at the wedding of Jacob and Christina, the two were together again and this time, they hit it off! Katie remembers a particularly smooth move by Joel where he requested the DJ play "Cover Me Up" by Morgan Wallen and then spun Katie into a slow dance. Katie said that was the moment when it all started for her. See below for a photo of the moment. The two kept in touch after the wedding and soon visited one another to their respective homes as they lived 1,000 miles away from each other. After dating for 2 years the two closed the distance when Katie moved from Tampa to Chicago. On December 15th, Joel got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. She said "YES!" and now 1400 days after the two shared their first dance, they'll be sharing their first dance as a married couple with all of you!
