From day 1, Katie and Jim have always seemed to get along. The pair met during their time at Grant Thornton, where Jim's desk was only a short walk from Katie's. Jim could constantly be found goofing off at work and trying to irritate Katie. Katie would often look down at her laptop with a scowl and dismiss his shenanigans. Despite that, the pair often got together with other colleagues to have "family dinners" and play board games. Unfortunately for Jim, Katie tended to brush off his numerous advances. However, Jim is also lucky that Katie has a bit of an envious streak. Once Jim finally gave up hope and began to date others, Katie suddenly became interested. It's straight out of a rom-com here folks. The straw that broke the camel's back was when Katie was returning from a girl's trip to Florida. Jim, being the romantic genius that he is, showed up to the airport with flowers to welcome her home. After that, the pair were inseparable. They went to festivals, explored DC restaurants, visited friends and family across the country, and fell in love. Eventually, Jim got up the nerve to pop the question. On December 28th, 2017 Jim booked a sunset cruise while on a Knapp family vacation in Roatán, Honduras. Captain Ray took the pair out on his boat and they both enjoyed a light misty rain followed by a spectacular sunset. Captain Ray eventually docked the boat at a private dock where the two were supposed to enjoy a candlelit seafood dinner. Jim was so nervous that he clumsily slumped off the boat and instructed Katie to go to the end of the dock. He rummaged around his bag, fumbling to find the ring. Before Captain Ray could even get his camera, Jim was on one knee. Katie immediately said yes! Both were so filled with buzz and excitement, they could barely eat (which is a VERY rare occurrence, particularly for Jim). They returned to the beach where the entire Knapp family was waiting with a large bottle of champagne. It will never be forgotten.
