It all happened on the Bushnell Family Summer Vacation 2020 in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Katie had been traveling the whole month of July and was excited to go and see Corey and his family for a week in the mountains. The entire month she had been making small jokes about reminding Corey to not forget to pack the ring, not realizing he actually had bought the ring in December 2019, and had been holding onto it. On the first day of vacation, July 20th, it was Katie's 21st birthday! The family decided it was a perfect day to go hike Clingman's Dome (one of Katie's favorite hikes!) As they hiked up to the top Corey had been playing country music through a little speaker the entire way up. So it came to no surprise to Katie when at the top of the mountain Corey started to play "This is it" by Scotty McCreery. Katie as infatuated with the mountains and the scenery as she is, she paid little to no attention to the fact that this song was playing. This song is Katie and Corey's favorite song to listen to together! It summed up their love and their feelings toward each other so nicely. So how could Corey not use this song to propose. About the time Katie stops taking pictures of the scenery, Corey comes walking over toward her with her dream ring in his pocket. He takes her in his arms and explains to her how much love he has for her and how excited he is for their future. Right about the time that Katie starts to realize what is happening and Corey gets down onto one knee and asks Katie for her hand in marriage in front of everyone who happened to be at the top of the observatory at that moment. She said yes of course!
