Katie had just moved back to Chicago, with the intention to visit for three months before moving to California for a new job. That very first weekend back, Katie met Calum through her stepsister Kaitlyn. Katie and Cal hit it off immediately and made plans to watch the Wisconsin vs. Iowa football game that very next day. Turns out, the Hawkeyes were the only losers that day, the Badgers won by two, and Katie and Calum started their incredible love story. Just a few weeks later, in true Cal fashion, he told Katie’s dad, and anyone who would listen, that he was going to marry her. The next two years were filled with love, endless laughter, and adventure. Cal and Katie got their sweet boy Bear, moved from Chicago to Colorado, and then eventually to Southern California where they live today. Calum and Katie love to golf, take Bear on hikes, spend days at the beach, and explore new restaurants around Orange County.

Calum proposed to Katie while on vacation at her favorite hotel in Cabo San Lucas. Katie was taking her time getting ready (no surprise), Cal was pacing with nerves trying to hide the ring somewhere she wouldn’t see. Nerves aside, Calum had everything planned perfectly—on the way to dinner, he asked to stop and take a picture near the beach, got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. Katie, of course, said “yes!”.
