Officiant
Rachel was the obvious choice for wedding officiant. She and Katie have been teaming up on creative projects since they were wee high schoolers, writing fan fiction on countless sites. Throughout everything she and Katie have done together, Rachel has been silly, kind, and inviting -- exactly the kind of person you want to guide the ceremony on your wedding day. Rachel lives outside Dallas, Texas with her husband Jacob and her daughter Penny.
Katie's Side
Lindsay is basically Ann Perkins but in real life. She's kind, smart, funny, and loyal as hell. Since Katie met her in 2009, Lindsay's kindness and humor have been an enormous comfort. Not only that, but their mutual group of friends would practically be non-functional any time they got together if it weren't for her. Lindsay lives outside Denver, Colorado where she works as a massage therapist and as an assistant to creative-type folks.
Bailey's Side
There is no way that Bailey would have made it through the — sometimes painful — adventure that is law school without Taylor. Bailey and Taylor met shortly before they started at UMN Law in 2015 and have been close ever since. There’s nothing like 20+ hours spent studying for a property law exam to bring people together. Taylor is an amazingly loyal friend and honest sounding board that Bailey is lucky to have in her life. Taylor lives in St. Paul with her husband Matthew and her daughter Thea.
Katie's Side
When Mallery's in, she's all in, and that's made her an absolutely invaluable friend. Katie and Mal have been friends since early high school, and while a lot of the specifics of their friendship have changed since 2006, Mal continues to be one of the very most important people in Katie's life. Her dedication to creative projects has helped Katie to find the confidence to start her own projects countless times. Mallery lives in Minneapolis with four cats and three humans. Her current job involves training artificial intelligence. Ask her about it.
Bailey's Side
Bailey has known Coleman the longest out of everyone in the wedding party, which isn't surprising since Bailey's known Coleman almost since the moment he was born. From pretending to have posh British accents at Disney World to the time that Bailey just decided to call Coleman “Goop” for about a year, Bailey and Coleman are lucky to say that they always have each others back. Coleman lives in Columbus, Ohio.
Katie's Side
Maddie is exactly the kind of friend everyone needs, probably because she goes out of her way to be that friend. She's clearly committed to doing whatever little things she can to see the people she loves happy. In Katie's case, that meant bringing her to see manatees, countless phone calls, and a surprise bunny sweater. Maddie is truly ride or die, the Taako to Katie's Magnus. It's pretty cool to know someone who would probably literally kill for you. Maddie lives in Sarasota, Florida with her cat Cow.
Bailey's Side
Mackenzie is Bailey's cousin. Bailey’s first memory of Mackenzie is briefly acknowledging her at Mackenzie’s baptism. Their later hangouts have gone a lot better than that. Mackenzie is a bright spot of joy and love. Bailey and Mackenzie share a love for all things coffee and all things wine. She's a loving mom to her dog Oliver, who unintentionally shares a name with Katie and Bailey's cat. Mackenzie lives in Toledo, Ohio and is studying to become a school psychologist.
Katie's Side
Katie has a lot of childhood memories of her little brother. She and Matt pretended to be Bionicles at the nearby park on a snow day. They once blew off 4th of July plans to play Harvest Moon in the basement. Nowadays, Matt and Katie's relationship consists of as much talking about games and general media garbage as it did when they were kids. The primary difference is that Matt no longer wears ninja costumes for ten months out of the years. Oh, he's also grown into a quick-witted, loyal, and funny person. Matt lives in Richfield with his daughter Marilyn and his parents.
Flower Girl
Thea is Taylor’s one-year-old daughter and one of Bailey’s best friends. One of the most amazing parts of the past year or so has been being able to watch Thea learn and grow into the smart, strong, funny kid that she is today. Thea loves to climb, carry cups, and read books. Also she loves to climb. She's very good at it. If you're lucky, maybe she'll demonstrate at the wedding.
Flower Girl
Marilyn is Katie's seven-year-old niece and undoubtedly one of Katie's favorite people in the world. She's a big fan of cats, DC Superhero Girls, and emojis. When we asked Marilyn if she'd rather be a flower girl or a junior bridesmaid, she said she wanted to be a flower girl. Admittedly, she probably didn't understand what a junior bridesmaid is. We're sure she'll do an excellent job of making sure Thea doesn't run off.
Cat
Katie adopted Oliver from the Animal Humane Society in 2016. Bailey adopted him when she and Katie moved into their new apartment. You'll find the adoption contract on their fridge. Oliver is a beautiful sweet boy. He loves chirping at things out the window, chasing his toy bird, getting scritches, and climbing places he's not allowed. Oliver isn't a big fan of new places, so he'll be celebrating the marriage of his two moms from the comfort of home.
Cat
Togepi is named after a little egg pokemon, which has inspired many a nickname. Bailey and Katie adopted Togepi in November of 2018, and she is a tiny ball of energy. Togepi loves food, loves yelling about food, loves yelling about nothing, and loves her rainbow toy. She’s also a fan of holding down Oliver’s head and forcefully grooming him. Like Oliver, Togepi will not be attending the wedding, but she’s still important.
