We're getting married!

A winery in Valle de Guadalupe on the outskirts of Ensenada, Mexico. El Tigre, Carretera libre Tijuana-Ensenada Km. 89 El Sauzal de Rodriguez, 22760 Ensenada, B.C., Mexico

Sailing brought us together, a California Yacht Club challenge event to be exact. We met while racing in the Linda Elias Memorial One-Design Regatta in 2019. Two years later Allie asked Katie out on their first date, and we have been inseparable ever since. Today, we live in Marina del Rey with our dog, Moxie.

On September 30, 2023, on a gorgeous Catalina Island day, atop a defunct helicopter landing area in the hills between Isthmus and Cat Harbor, Allie pretended to set up her phone to take a selfie. As she and Moxie approached to stand in the picture, Allie got down on one knee and presented a ring, all the while covertly videoing the proposal. Katie was completely taken by surprise (notwithstanding the fact that this was Allie's second attempt to disguise a proposal in a fake selfie opportunity). The two spent the day celebrating with the bottle of champagne hidden in Allie's backpack, sitting on the dinghy dock in Cat Harbor with their feet in the water.
