It is hard to go wrong with a hike through the rain forests of the Olympic Peninsula. There are beautiful waterfalls and the rain forest offers a cool break from the summer heat. The park includes multiple hikes to the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Highway 101 wraps around the entire area and is one of the most beautiful drives in the country. The Staircase entrance, located in Hoodsport, is the closest to Alderbrook. There is a $30 fee for vehicles ($15 fee if you travel by bike/foot). Nothing beats getting on the water for a few hours in the summer time in the Pacific Northwest. There are a few outfits in the area for kayak and SUP rentals (some require appointments ahead of time). Alderbrook Resort - Union North Shore Hood Canal Kayak Rentals - Belfair Hood Canal Adventures - Brinnon
Cool spot with local seafood and world famous Hood Canal oysters (probably not the season for oysters, unfortunately). A short drive up Hwy 101 from the resort.
The market is quite touristy, but it is definitely worth it if you are in Seattle. Catch the fish toss, check out the gum wall, have a beer at one of the breweries. You can also easily get to the Seattle waterfront to hop on the Great Wheel or walk through the aquarium.
Some of the best burgers, fries, and shakes you will ever have. We recommend the Dick's Deluxe, cheeseburger, and chocolate shake.
One of our favorite views of the city, and a great date-night park.
