The story of how Kathryn and Bryan met is disputed by many scholars and historians and most of all, by Kathryn and Bryan themselves. However, most agree that around the year 2012, while Kathryn and Bryan were attending the University of Delaware, their paths crossed. Kathryn and Bryan’s mutual love of dogs brought them together through the Puppy Raisers of UD, a club of The Seeing Eye. Bryan had another passion, sailing, that he shared with Kathryn when they both participated in the UD sailing team. While at UD, they made lifelong friends together that will travel from all over the country to celebrate in New Hope. After graduating in 2014 and 2015, Bryan and Kathryn continued the adventure they started by hiking and traveling locally. But the real adventure began in 2018 when they moved into a townhouse in Wilmington, and embarked on raising a Seeing Eye puppy of their own. That fluffy, talkative, and protective german shepherd would eventually find that guide work was not for her, and she belonged on the couch right next to her favorite humans. 2019 was a big year for the couple. They took on the responsibility of raising yet another seeing eye dog, this time a black labrador retriever. Later that year, the couple visited the Grand Canyon, and Bryan asked Kathryn a grand question! She said yes! A month later they bought their very own house, complete with a backyard for their pups to romp around. In 2020, the black lab learned that she, too, was destined for a spot on the couch next to her favorite humans. Bryan and Kathryn, determined to break the vacuum with dog hair, embarked on yet another Seeing Eye puppy… and her future is still to be determined.
