My family and I visited Lake Como every time we visited Montana. It’s beautiful. It is a large reservoir approximately 13 miles south of Hamilton. It has a sandy beach and a nice swimming area. We also enjoyed hiking the Lake Como National Recreation Trail. It is a seven-mile loop. You can just go a mile or two and turn around if you prefer. The full loop circles the lake with excellent views the entire way. There’s also a beautiful waterfall about half way around. The trailhead is near the swimming area and Lake Como Campground.
The reception is being held at The Stock Farm, a private club in Hamilton. Typically, only members can use the facilities. Because we are hosting our wedding there, the Club Manager has made some helpful accommodations. They will accept guest credit cards for golf, dining, and spa treatments. However, you do need to let Kathleen's Aunt, Julia Sullivan, know this in advance so that she can contact the club. It's quite simple so no worries!! We'll send an email out about this in late May.

The Bitterroot Mountains to the west and the Sapphire Mountains to the east comprise the Bitterroot Valley's beautiful scenery. The 1.6-million-acre Bitterroot National Forest encompasses these iconic mountain ranges. If you have time, I recommend hiking some of the many trails. Blodgett Canyon is a favorite. For those who really want a challenge, Trapper Peak. Bass Creek and St. Mary Peak also have hiking trails. There’s also an easy hiking trail at Como Lake.
If visiting the area for the first time or new to the sport of flyfishing, the best way to go about it is with a professional guide. We always had a guide along with us and it made the trip much more enjoyable. We recommend Freestone Fly shop. They'll provide all of the needed equipment plus guidance on the best techniques.
There are many options for horseback riding. Hidalgo Trail Rides is available near Lolo Hot Springs. We will also be putting together a trail ride option for Friday for anyone interested. Kathleen's Aunt and Uncle also have several horses on their property. There will be time for a limited number of people to ride in their arena.
