"They slipped briskly into an intimacy from which they never recovered" - F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise When Katherine said we needed to craft our story for the wedding website, I knew as the better half of the couple that this task would fall to me. Ours is a beautiful story to tell: one of friendship flourishing, of love persisting, and of the incomparable hospitality of Waffle House. This site represents the culmination of seven years of special little moments starting with my complimenting her Madison First United Methodist Church sweatshirt from the doorway of her Creswell Hall dorm room and leading to her saying ‘yes’ when I took a knee to ask her to do me the kindest favor anyone ever has. At least, we think she said ‘yes’... There were a lot of tears. But between those two bookends are an anthology of classics, like when we walked hand-in-hand through the picturesque streets of Charleston where I realized I never wanted to be without her; or, later that day, when I lifted her onto my shoulders as the band played ‘Free Bird’ where she realized she could never be without me. I’d be delighted to list all our best moments over the last seven years of knowing each other and all the late night talks at Waffle House or the time I first met her parents at Waffle House — seriously a lot of WaHo — though for now I’ll save you the torture. Besides, seven years is far less than a lifetime and when Katherine said we needed to craft our story, I told her it was only beginning.
