Katherine and Jordan met on Katherine's first night of college at UNC Chapel Hill. Jordan and his roommates were hosting a party in their apartment that night, and Katherine had been invited by a mutual friend. A few weeks later, Jordan invited Katherine to his fraternity's Spring Rush Cocktail. However, things didn't take off right away and they ended up losing touch shortly after. It wasn't until a full 6 months later that Jordan reached out again to invite Katherine to Sigma Chi's fall cocktail. Initially, Katherine didn't want to go since things hadn't worked out the first time, but thankfully she decided to give it another shot. She was instantly smitten this time around, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Jordan and Katherine got engaged two days after their 6th Anniversary. Katherine's cousin Ryan was moving that Saturday, and they had made plans to meet up with some friends at the National Mall to take photos before heading to brunch nearby for Ryan's sendoff. Ryan had been in DC for a year, and she and Katherine had always talked about taking photos at the Monuments together but never made it happen, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Katherine and Jordan arrived at the Lincoln Memorial first, and decided to walk around and explore inside while they waited for Ryan and her friends, who were "running late". While at the top of the stairs, Jordan walked Katherine around to the far corner and got down on one knee. After she said "yes!" Jordan stood and said he had one more surprise. Katherine turned and saw her family running towards her from around the corner. It was the perfect day filled with family and friends who came out to help celebrate!
