We met during high school when our mutual friend, Denise, introduced us. We instantly became friends and officially started dating a couple of months later. We've been together ever since and are so excited to celebrate 10 years together at our wedding!
We planned a summer vacation to Oahu to relax in the sun. Little did Katelyn know that Sean had bigger plans. Sean always had it in the back of his mind that this could be the trip to pop the question. However, since the ring was still being made, he wasn't sure it would be ready in time. Miraculously, the day before we boarded our flight, a call from the jeweler delivered good news and Sean swiftly picked up the ring and hid it in his luggage (after sneaking a peek). Once in Oahu, things got serious and Sean had to come up with a plan, and fast. Through some friends and a little bit of luck, Sean was introduced to the photographer who would help capture his surprise proposal during sunrise at Kahala beach. The night before, Sean planted the idea of getting sunrise pictures at a nearby beach and fortunately Katelyn was on board. When we arrived at the beach in the morning, tropical rain fell sideways but streaks of sunshine still peeked through the clouds. With the tropical rain bouncing off our faces, we trekked on to not miss the sunrise over Diamond Head volcano. Suddenly the rain stopped just as the sun started to crest over the island. While soaking in the sunrise, Sean pretended to set up his phone for some timed pictures. Then he revealed the real reason why he brought Katelyn there and got down on one knee. Kate of course said yes! and was surprised for a second time when Sean revealed that there was a photographer hidden in the palm trees, capturing the moment. While still soaking it all up, the morning was finished off with an engagement shoot on the quiet Oahu beach. We finished the morning with tropical mimosas over brunch. Overflowing with excitement, we began to update our friends and family about our magical morning. The rest of the vacation was spent celebrating and basking in the new exciting chapter of our lives.
