Our story began in the not so small town of Simpsonville, SC. We both were in college, Katelyn a freshman and Eric a senior. We both worked at everyone's favorite grocery store, Publix. Katelyn worked in the deli and Eric in the bakery. We didn't really know each other and would generally just say, "Hi, how are you?" to one another if we ran into each other. As time went on, Eric started to become interested in Katelyn and asked to go to a cookout with him and his friends. At the time Katelyn was seeing someone else and she declined. Later, one night while Eric was working and Katelyn (now single) was shopping, she spontaneously went to talk to him. If anyone knows Katelyn, they know that is very unlike her. That ended up with them exchanging numbers and talking then to the first of many dates, and eventually into an official relationship. Everything was going well but little did they know that our first biggest test of all was upcoming. Eric graduated and got offered a job out of state. Our relationship went from an 8 month relationship to a 5 year long distance relationship. We faced many different trials and challenges but the distance seemed to strengthen our love for each other. The common belief is that long distance relationships never work out, but after many late night phone calls, traveling to see each other, and Skype sessions, here we are about to get married! As Eric would say, "Distance is only a number" and we conquered it.
