October 30, 2023 if possible. You can either respond via the RSVP tab above, by returning your paper RSVP from the invite, or by just telling us. We're not fussy.
General wedding-y attire. Kilts, suits, party & cocktail dresses and whatever suits you best. We'd recommend bringing an extra layer (it is Scotland in March, after all) and some flat shoes, there will be a ceilidh!
The "official" ceremony will be happening at 1:00pm at the Kibble Palace in the Glasgow Botanic Gardens, which is unfortunately very limited in numbers, so we've kept that to the wedding party & close family only. For the main event at the Engine Works, please arrive at 3:00pm for an unofficial handfast gathering and grab a drink on your way in. For evening guests, please arrive for 7:30pm and the ceilidh will start at 8pm.
No gifts are necessary. Just your company :) For those that do insist, we have two (very, very optional) ideas... First, we'll be donating part of our wedding fund to Marie Curie Cancer Care (https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/donate/where-your-money-goes). We would greatly appreciate if you would like to make a small donation as well. Or second, we'd love to develop a good library! If you have a favourite book (fact or fiction) that you'd like to recommend to us, or buy or donate to us (second hand appreciated!), we'll have a table laid out on the day. Please write us a wee note in the cover saying something about you, or mentioning why the book is special to you.
Yes, please see the Travel tab above.
Please arrange for your own transportation to and from the Engine Works. The address is the Engine Works, 23-25 Lochburn Road, Glasgow, G20 9AE and T: 0141 945 3180. We'll have transportation between the Botanics and the Engine Works for those arriving earlier than 3:00pm. If you are staying in the centre of Glasgow or the West End, we'd probably recommend taking a taxi as the Engine Works is only a 10 minute ride from both places. There are a few private hire taxi numbers in the Travel tab above.
For the Engine Works, there is free on-street parking right outside the venue on Lochburn Rd, but these spaces can fill up fast. We would suggest parking on nearby streets such as Kelvindale Rd or beside the Maryhill Burgh Halls around Gairbraid Ave.
Although we love your kids, we thought you could use night off! However if you do have difficulties with childcare do get in touch and we will aim to accommodate, it's more important that we can all celebrate together. There will be a few kids as part of the wedding party and of relations.
We've tried to include everyone on the invites, but if we have missed anyone important to you, we're sorry! Just get in touch with us direct.
Yes, please get in touch and/or respond on your RSVP. We'll take note of any allergies. We are probably (if we can find a suitable one) going to arrange a proper Glaswegian curry buffet which everyone should experience once in their lives. We will have a few options for those adverse to spice, but please let us know if you are wholly adverse to curry and we'll aim for some additional options.
All carriages at midnight.
We'll park ourselves in Oran Mor in the West End of Glasgow on Friday night from 8pm. So if anyone is arriving early and would like to join us for a drink (or two, or three), that's where we'll be and please do come along!
I'm sure we'll have forgotten something. Just message us!
