Question

Is the wedding really at a zoo?

Answer

Yes, we're very excited about it.

Question

Wait, aren't zoos bad?

Answer

All generalizations are bad, and not all zoos are created equal. We did a lot of homework and visited and researched as much as possible until we were confident that Elmwood Park Zoo is an ethical zoo. In a perfect world, there would not be zoos and all animals could live freely in the wild. Unfortunately, our world is far from perfect. The “wild” is extremely unsafe, and natural habitats are disappearing quickly, and those that remain are under constant threat. The best way to preserve endangered species is for humans to protect them. Humans are naturally selfish and have short memories, and we do not care about what we do not know about. Zoos keep humans aware of animals, their needs, and the dangers they face, which ensures that humans stay interested and invested. What really impressed us about the Elmwood Park Zoo was their commitment to education, both of the public and of the veterinary science world. When you walk into the zoo, you will see their Veterinary Health Center, with a surgical suite, diagnostic labs, and pharmacy. You can also see the animal commissary, where the diets for all of the zoo’s animals are being prepared. Take a look at the giant menu boards! 2024 marked the Elmwood Park Zoo’s centennial celebration, and the launch of their “master plan” to expand and improve the zoo even further, with the Asian and North America exhibits currently underway. We think it is pretty cool to know that the money we are spending on the wedding will help to further this work!

Question

Okay, but I still think zoos are bad....

Answer

You are entitled to that opinion. We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to send us a gift from our registry without having to come to the zoo!

Question

What is the attire?

Answer

Cocktail attire, or, in other words, fancy meets comfortable! Yes, it’s a zoo, but it’s also a wedding! But don’t worry, we won’t kick you out for not being fancy enough.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes. Fred is the groom, after all!

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Only those who have been explicitly invited. Uninvited or unruly guests of any age will be fed to the bison.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

Only if a "plus one" has been explicitly invited on your invitation. We appreciate you understanding that we have to pay per guest and the venue has to be very strict about their guest capacity due to the unique setting. Uninvited or unruly guests will be fed to the bison.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, the zoo has ample parking! Uber and Lyft are also available in the area.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, please do! Kate has many allergies, so it is extra important to us that our wedding to be a time where people can eat and have fun without worry! We will also have a special gluten-free wedding cake/desserts.

For all the days along the way
