Andy and Kate met in the first grade at Swanson Elementary School. You could say their road to love really started in the fourth grade, when they were in the same class. In her fourth grade yearbook, Kate drew a half a heart next to Andy's name. They always joke that he had half of her heart back then, and the rest he won over in college when they started dating. Being in the same friend group allowed Andy and Kate to stay in touch after graduating High School. After a night of hanging out with friends (and maybe too much Tequila) Andy worked up the courage to ask Kate to go out as more than just friends. They began dating in December 2014. Being Juniors at two different colleges, Andy would drive 4 hours from Oshkosh, Wisconsin almost every weekend to visit Kate in Winona, Minnesota. But he always made it back to his 8am class Monday mornings. After graduating, Andy and Kate moved to Monterrey, Mexico to pursue their passion to become fluent in Spanish. Here they enjoyed even more Tequila, and the best food on the planet. They worked at Johnson Controls together for about two years before moving back to the US in the winter of 2019, settling back down near their hometown in Milwaukee. On August 12th 2023, after nine wonderful years of shared laughter, thrilling adventures, and countless late nights with friends and family, Andy crafted a scavenger hunt for a camping trip to Kettle Moraine State Forest. He included ten poems, each starting with these letters: "M A R R Y M E K 8 ?" and the rest is history.
