Our top recommendation for breakfast. Get the hashbrown sandwich. There is no other order worth entertaining unless they have put the italian beef sandwich back on the breakfast/lunch menu (Anna was devastated when they moved that to dinner only), in which case: get one of each. Karl's go to order: hash brown sandwich, no sausage Anna's go to order: hash brown sandwich, once upon a time italian beef sandwich (yes, even for breakfast. it is that good).
Known affectionately by the two of us as BST, Bull Street Taco has incredible cauliflower tacos (even if you think you don't want one, you do). Karl's go to order: 3 cauliflower tacos and a Topo Chico Anna's go to order: 2 cauliflower tacos, 1 Chum's taco, and a Basil Paloma.
An outdoor food court which features a variety of different food trucks and often has live music on the weekends. Next door you will find Two Tides Brewing, which is, in our opinion, the best brewery in Savannah and their food truck Crispi, which has the best smashburger (both carnivorous and vegan) in town.
Very casual. Huge menu, something for everyone. Dog friendly outside. Lots of seating. Karl doesn't think he's ever been here (he has). Anna recommends the smash burger with a side of collard greens, and a beer, obviously.
Our entire Tupperware collection is made up of E-Tang containers. This is the BEST Chinese food in the Southeast. We get takeout from here all the time. Some of our favorite dishes include hot oil wontons, garlic cucumbers, vegetable lo mein, crispy spicy chicken, stir fried string beans, stir fried bok choy, and stir fried snow pea leaves. The soup dumplings are also great but they don't do well to-go.
Locally sourced, farm to table restaurant serving exceptional southern fare in a beautifully restored historic home. Menu changes regularly. Reservations are a must.
Anna's favorite restaurant in Savannah. Dressy casual. You need reservations. The menu changes seasonally but our go to's are: Chicken wings (Vegetarian Karl eats at least one every time we go... they're that good). You may be seeing a version of these chicken wings later in the weekend so don't eat too many... Anna's go to: Either the 3 sides combo or the fried chicken with cheese grits instead of macaroni and cheese. Karl's go to: usually whatever vegetarian dish they are serving, sometimes the 3 sides. Dessert: homemade candy bars. Always.
Iconic Savannah restaurant. VERY popular with tourists so reservations are a MUST. Try to sit in the basement/dungeon/bar if you can. Recommendations: fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, prailine basket.
Hidden gem tiki bar frequented by locals on our side of town. Next door to Moodrights/Over Yonder which is dive bar candlestick bowling on one side and a Texas dive bar on the other.
Cute cocktail bar. Be prepared to wait for a table.
Rooftop bar of the Thompson Hotel. Creative (and tasty) drinks, good snacks.
Rootop of the Perry Lane Hotel. Great cocktails with beautiful views. Very popular.
The most iconic landmark in Savannah. If you're picturing a fountain in your head when you think of Savannah, this is where you'll find it. The perfect place to walk or run, set up a picnic, or take a nap. There is a large Saturday morning farmer's market where you can pick up local treats and find the perfect souvenir.
A fun store to walk around in, a must visit if shopping on Broughton. Best described as a "stuff" store. They have antiques, unique odds and ends, tableware, jewelry, candles, tea, some kid's stuff, and a cute little french cafe attached.
Legend has it that the phrase "Keeping up with the Joneses" is based off of the residents of Jones Street. Walk down Jones Street, dodge the crowds at Ms. Wilkes' Dining Room (or join them if you have time), pop in to "One Fish, Two Fish", and admire the beautiful historic homes.
Cute local bookstore off of Madison Square. They have a great selection of local books in addition to bestsellers. Try to spot all three cats that roam the premises.
Learn about the history of Savannah and see the city with on a "hop on, hop off" trolley tour. Fun and informative. Try to take a peek inside the Basilica (a stop on the tour) if you can. It is STUNNING.
