We first met five years ago at a co-ed softball game in the metroparks. The season was ending so we hung out a few times outside of softball. We went to the coldest football game either one of us had ever been to for our first date, the Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers. In the two years following that game we would run into each other from time to time at the local bars in Lakewood, but it was nothing more than a brief encounter. Two years after that football game, we reconnected at a house party and the rest is history. We started officially dating in 2018, had lots of adventures together from our nights out, travels, moving in together and getting our dog together. And now we're here, almost married!

We got engaged on the snowy morning of December 5th, 2020. We planned to take our dog for a long walk in the metroparks, nothing unusual. We started walking the paved path around the softball fields and took a detour off the path onto the snowy field. Steve tied the dog to one of the dugout benches, got down on one knee and proposed on the same exact field where we first met years before at that softball game.
