We met in a kickball league in San Francisco when Eric moved out to California after college. We were on rival kickball teams who played each other in the championship game that ended in a tie due to lack of daylight. The winner had to be decided by a flip cup game at the bar afterwards and Kari won! We became friends for a few months and eventually decided to make it official.

Eric proposed to Kari on a hike in the beautiful Waimea Canyon during a vacation in Kauai, Hawaii. Kari walked ahead to pose for a picture where she slipped and fell on the gravel, giving Eric the few seconds he needed to pull out the ring and put it in his pocket. After getting up and taking some pictures, Kari turned around to see Eric down on one knee. After some silent hugs and tears, Eric popped the question and Kari said yes!
