Feeding animals AND drinking wine? Don't mind if I do.
This is probably Kara and Ian's favorite restaurant in LA. If you've come to visit them, they most likely took you here and made you get the mini lobster roll. GET THE MINI LOBSTER ROLL. And tell them Ian and Kara sent you (jk, they have no idea who we are)
Ian took Kara on this hike on her first visit and it made her fall in love with the city (and him). The views of the entire city of LA (and the Hollywood sign) are worth all the swearing you'll do on the way up... and Bonus! If you've watched Ian's instagram trolling of Kara going downhill - this is the spot!
In the mood for fried seafood by the water? Great. Go here. It's famous and delicious, and you can run across to the beach right after. Because who doesn't want to be in a bikini after they binge eat fish and chips?
Well, it's pretty obvious why we feel drawn to this place. Grab a bottle of their wine, sit out on the patio, and listen to live music - right off the Pacific Coast Highway.
One of our favorite Malibu beaches!
Ok - this restaurant lives up to the hype of being one of the best in LA. Eat here if you can. Seriously. But also make a reservation 100 years in advance.
Ok granted, this is very touristy. But if you've never been to LA, you have to do at least one touristy thing... OKAY?! Rent bikes in Venice, ride along the beach, and end up on the ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier for amazing coastal views and instagram boomerangs. Fun Fact: This is the first thing Ian ever planned for Kara when she came to visit!
If you're feeling cultural, The Getty is such a fun way to kill a few hours. Riding the tram up is a nice touch, and the views are amazingggg!
You can drive or hike (we prefer to hike!) to see the historic Griffith Observatory and stunning views. Or you can pretend no else is there and do a dance like Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone did in LaLa Land. Just sayin.
Another very LA thing to do that is super fun! Spend a few hours walking around, looking at art, and taking photos at the famous LACMA lights.
This place is magical and very zen if you're nursing a hangover or just want to be one with nature for the day!
Extending your trip and want to spend a few days in the warm desert? This is hands down one of our favorite hotels to stay at in Palm Springs.
Another Ian and Kara go-to. Make sure you request outdoor seating on their string-lit patio. And make sure you get the Le Bowl. Trust us.
Another beautiful Malibu beach to try!
