Maid of Honour (She/Her)
Cassie has been friends with Karen and Gavin since high school. She could often be found loitering with Gavin and other friends at the Tim Horton's in Orleans, hitching a ride with Gavin to and from school, or hanging out with Karen in the computer lab throughout grade 12. She helped hide flowers for Gavin's prom-posal to Karen. As if that wasn't enough, after high school, she followed Karen into the IMD program in university, where they worked, studied, and suffered countless hours together in the computer labs of Carleton.
Best Man (He/Him)
Sean first met Gavin in 2014 while they were both on the Queen’s University fencing team. They became good friends over their time at university as they were both in the physics program and spent summers working for the Physics department. Shortly afterwards he also met Karen through the fencing team, and the two showed great patience as players in Sean’s first attempt at running a Dungeons and Dragons game, for which Sean is eternally grateful.
Team Bride (She/Her)
Karen knows the beautiful couple through their time on Queen’s fencing team. She became one of Argo’s special dog sitters in Kingston and his favourite hand to lick. After many hours of fencing practices, countless trivia nights at the grad club and even a second degree at Queen’s, the couple realized that maybe having a second Karen in their lives isn’t so bad after all!
Team Groom (He/Him)
Sean met Gavin in 10th grade math class, where a friendship began that would see them becoming each other’s first roommates at Queen’s. Having survived that experience, and many hours spent in each other’s company in person and online, the two have shared many steps on the path towards becoming the men they are now. Now, both Kingston and Ottawa are home to a slew of memories of time well spent together – no doubt with more to come.
Team Bride (She/Her)
Lia met Gavin on the first day of tryouts for the Queen's University fencing team back in 2015, and was fortunate enough to meet Karen shortly after. She felt lucky to know them as leaders and mentors during her first year away from home, and felt even luckier when their friendship continued to grow outside of the gym.
Team Groom (She/Her)
Lucy met Gavin in the 7th grade and became close on the lego robotics team. When Gavin moved away to Norway they kept in touch until university started. At Queen’s they shared many math courses and nights out at QP! Now that Lucy also lives in Ottawa they have dog play dates and game nights.
Team Bride (They/Them)
Ben met Karen at Carleton in 2014 - and while Karen may have abandoned the program, she didn't abandon their friendship. In 2019, Karen joined Ben's weekly Dungeons and Dragons group where they mastered the art of playing pretend - but like, in a cool adult way. As a testament to their bond, Ben served as Karen's passport guarantor.
Team Groom (He/Him)
Ian is Gavin's little brother (not so little now) separated by 7 years. Because of this large age gap, Ian brought that classic little brother torment to Gavin at a young age, mostly due to the fact that Gavin could play Call of Duty and Ian had to sit and watch. But regardless of the fact, Ian has always looked up to his older brother as the smartest person he has ever met, this led to many tutor sessions through high school and university where Ian struggled and Gavin knew the answer in seconds. Ian was fortunate enough to meet Karen at a very young age and has had the privilege to see the beautiful couple's love grow for over half his life.
