Hodag Photo Scavenger Hunt

Hodag Photo Scavenger Hunt

450 West Kemp Street, Rhinelander, WI 54501

We challenge you to a Hodag photo scavenger hunt. There are dozens of hodag statues throughout town. How many can you find? There will be a prize for whoever finds the most hodags. Official rules to this game will be published by Thursday, 9/19. The Chamber of Commerce may be a good starting point.

Hike at Almon County Park

Pioneer Park Historical Museum

Martin Lynch Drive, Rhinelander, WI 54501

Learn about northern Wisconsin logging and Civilian Conservation Corps history at the historical park. Open weekend mornings in the fall. You may find some hodags lurking in museum exhibits. Have a picnic or play a game of pickleball in the park.

Hike around Hanson Lake

Hike around Hanson Lake

Hike the 2-ish mile trail around Hanson Lake. There is an undeveloped swimming beach (for people or dogs!) on the southeast corner of the lake. This is nice for paddling and there is a boat launch that can be accessed by driving past the soccer fields on a gravel road.

McNaughton Lake Hiking Trail

Kildare Road, WI 54531

Head north on Hwy 47 and turn left on Kildare Road to find the parking lot and trailhead. A cross country ski trail in the winter, this is a nice place to trail run or hike. Look for signs of otters on the boardwalk on the red loop. The yellow and green loops are very scenic passing by two small lakes with large pine trees.
