Question

Can I bring a boxed gift?

Answer

During this special moment in our lives, your presence at our wedding is more than enough to make our day. If you would like to honor us with a gift, we are kindly requesting no boxed gifts, which is a familiar Indian wedding custom.

Question

What do I wear to the Wedding Ceremony?

Answer

In terms of colors, white and black is avoided at all costs during an Indian Hindu wedding ceremony. Black is considered to be inauspicious and white is a color of mourning in the Indian culture. Traditionally, guests also avoid wearing fully red outfits as well, since mostly the bride is wearing red. In terms of outfits, for women, you may wear Indian attire (salwar kameez, sarees, lehengas) or modest formal attire (dresses). For men, you may wear Indian attire (sherwanis or kurtas) or formal attire (suits).

Question

I’ve never been to an Indian wedding before. What should I expect?

Answer

Traditionally, Indian weddings tend to be large and span over a couple of days. Although each region of India has its own specific customs, the general concept is the same – it’ll be a Big Fat Indian Wedding, filled with vibrant colors, music, and plenty of food and dancing. Although family members and close friends may have a role, the remainder of the guests are invited to sit back and enjoy.

Question

What kind of food will there be?

Answer

We often say that the best part of an Indian wedding is the food. There will be a wide variety of dishes with vegetarian options at each of the events. The food will be served buffet style, so that guests will have the option to choose what they’d like to eat.

Question

Is there transportation to and from The Courtyard at Marriott Wayne/Fairfield to the ceremony & reception?

Answer

Shuttle accommodations will be provided for all guests staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Wayne Fairfield to and from our evening reception at the Westmount Country Club. Transportation is ONLY available for guests who will be staying The Courtyard at Marriott - Wayne Fairfield hotel. There will be no shuttle transportation in the morning for the ceremony.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Question

What should I wear to Riddhi's Mangalik Prasang event?

Answer

Riddhi's Mangalik Prasang event will include pre-wedding Hindu ceremonies that are traditionally done before the wedding day such as Grah Shanti & Pithi/Haldi. In terms of a dress code, for women, you may wear Indian attire (salwar kameez, sarees, lehengas) or casual modest outfits such as dresses. In addition for Men, you may wear Indian attire (such as kurtas and light sherwanis) or wear business causal (button down shirts, chinos, etc.). Be mindful of not wearing anything super loose or with long sleeves as they may get stained with haldi/turmeric when you put it on the bride! In terms of color, many attendees wear yellow, however, it is not mandatory.

Question

What do I wear to the Reception?

Answer

The reception dress code is formal or black-tie attire such as Indian attire or formal attire (cocktail dresses, gowns, suits, tuxedos).

Question

Do I have to change outfits between the Wedding Ceremony & Reception?

Answer

Usually, guests may choose to change outfits between the wedding ceremony and reception, but this is not mandatory. There will be a gap of 4 hours between the end of the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour/reception.
