We met sometime in the Fall Semester of 2003 at Aquinas College. It apparently wasn't infatuation-at-first-sight for either of us, because the verdict is out on when or how it happened. Since Aquinas College is a small liberal arts college, we probably ran into each other multiple times. His best friend and *best man*, Paul, lived in the same residence hall as me, St. Joseph the Worker Hall (St. Joe's, represent! Do people still say that?) so that might have had something to do with it. We also both were involved in the many of the same clubs. We probably became friends in the 2003-2004 academic year. On an unrelated note, my roommate that year is one of my bridesmaids, Elizabeth. The following year, Ben and I moved into the same house, Knape Hall, as founding members of the Catholic Studies Club. There were 15 women living in the main part of the house and 2 men living in separate section of the house with its own door. Ben's roommate was Paul, his best man. (Elizabeth also lived in that house.) Knape Hall is a white house located on Woodward, only two houses down from the parking lot for the ceremony. A couple of years later, we served on the Student Senate Cabinet together. Ben was the President/Chair, and I was the Student Affairs Director that year. Our advisor, Dave Weinandy, is our master of ceremonies for the future reception. We continued to be friends through the years, even though we were separated by distance. He went off to grad school in St. Louis, and I entered a Franciscan community. He moved back to Michigan, taught theology for five years, and attended law school for three of those years. I remained a Franciscan for eight years, but I would visit him during each home-visit I could. After I left the community/convent and moved home to Michigan, we started spending more time together, and eventually figured out we liked each other beyond just being good friends. Now we are getting ready to spend the rest of our lives together! :)
