Preston and Kallista have a story like one straight out of a fairy tale, it started with a dream, a rose, and a bond. They met each other in a club for actors, Preston was an actor and the president of the club and Kallista was usually backstage as a technician or a stage manager, but this isn't where the story began just how it started. Years later, they ran into each other at a local mall, he was working at a Starbucks, and Kallista had just ordered a peppermint mocha, and was thrilled to see him. A few days later Preston messaged her asking her on their first date where they enjoyed Hibachi and a movie, then spent hours talking to each other, there were several more dates like this full of talking and enjoying each other's company. As the summer came to an end he presented her a rose, just as she was about to tell him she was leaving the country for the Middle East to begin her journey in her career. They decided to stay together and Preston promised her that he would follow. Several months went by and with each passing day, they spent more time talking to one another than they did anything else, eventually leading to them playing games together which to this day is something they spend countless hours doing together. As the days grew longer, Preston took a leap of faith. He packed one suitcase and a backpack and moved out to the Middle East. They explored all sorts of places in Abu Dabi, saw unique sights and interesting food and just genuinely enjoyed their time together. However, this soon changed when Preston had to go back to the U.S., he asked Kallista to join him, but she didn't instead she made a promise, to move out with him. Time crept by as they went back to their old habits of speaking and playing games together. Month by month the calendar fell away. When finally Kallista made the leap of faith this time, she moved back to the United States. This was the absolute best decision of her entire life.
Preston picked up Kallista and her cat from the Houston Airport, and finally, after what felt like an eternity they were back together again. It was then they decided they wouldn't spend a single night away from each other again. They moved into a one-bedroom apartment where they began building a home with their two cats, Silas and Ocarina. It didn't take much time to adjust to living together. They cooked, gamed, and schemed together, they were inseparable. After a while, they adopted a princess of a German shepherd named Delilah. They also went on a few wild adventures, he planned a trip to Disney for her Birthday, and for their anniversary they went to the airport and told the ticketing officer to book them a ticket to anywhere, which is how they ended up in Tampa and Bush Gardens.
They started at South Kaibab Trail, it was a steep trail it was truly like nothing they had ever seen, backpacks on hand filled with hiking necessities they started the long trek down. Finally reaching the trailhead which was near the base of the canyon, they took a break and then started tracking across the bottom of the canyon on Tonto trail. Taking breaks along the way they came across an elk, a small stream where they talked about all sorts of things then started their trek again. By night fall they finally made it to Indian Garden at the base of the Bright Angel trail. This is where they took their longest break, for those who haven't been to this part of the Grand Canyon, the Indian garden is a stunning oasis that is unique to the red lands, filled with water, plants, and wildlife it's one of the prettiest portions of the grand canyon. Preston asked Kallista to step out of the gazebo so he could prepare a special surprise. So blindfolded he took her up a few steep steps and sat her down while he went back into the Gazzebo and began rustling around. She had no idea the grand surprise she was really going to get. He guided her back down and opened her eyes, and it was amazing. He had lit two candles, a pot of roses, flower peddles, wine, twinkling lights in paper bags that spelled out "Will you marry me?", and as she opened her eyes, he was holding a single rose, he got down on one knee and opened the flower that revealed a ring box, and in it was centered with a red Rhodonite stone wrapped in small emeralds to resemble leaves, it looked like a rose. Preston looked Kallista in the eye and said, "Kallista, you told me to wait until you were 25, and today is June 19, will you marry me?" She burst into tears and said "Yes!" It's important to know this was not a typical hike, by the time the couple reached Indian gardens they had been walking for over 13 hours straight, both with what Kallista thought was equal weight, but in all combined, Preston was carrying at least 15 pounds extra without Kallista having any idea, because he never complained once about the extra weight in his pack knowing that this burden would change the couple for the rest of their lives. After taking a bit to enjoy their wine, admiring the ring, and eating some dinner, they got up and began hiking again. Before the end of this journey, they would encounter Mountian lions, a grand chase, and the satisfaction of completing a 19-hour hike that was 23 miles long.
