We do this every year and are currently trying to figure out how to fit it in to the wedding weekend! Participating buildings throughout the city open their doors to the public to show off their views and the architecture which makes Chicago so awesome! Be sure to catch a view or two!!!
Truly picturesque with the boats floating out to the lake, people gathering, and public art! Stop for a glass of wine at city winery or walk all the way out to the lake!
It's free and incredibly beautiful!
Play some beach volleyball or take in the view of the city right on Lake Michigan!
Free, books are super awesome, also go up to the 7th floor and peep the Winter Garden!
THE OTTERS! Everything else is also pretty awesome- recommend getting tickets in advance!
John says "it's outta this world"- recommend tickets in advance!
If you're going to one of the museums, this is a great place to grab a bite! Highly recommend the boozy milkshakes!
Get your 5k in! This family friendly rails to trail was a favorite of ours when we lived in Logan Square!
Kayak on the river amidst the skyscrapers! They're great about safety!
This is where Kaitlyn loves to kayak on the north branch of the Chicago river! It's clean (er) and more residential. Sometimes you see coyotes on the banks and beavers in the water! Plan and email ahead!
The bookshop from our first date (and otherwise beloved)!
Our new neighborhood bookshop!
BAGELS! We order this every weekend, no exaggeration.
Plants and coffee - two of our favorite things! This delightful cafe is on our street, about a 4 minute walk from our living room!
Our favorite restaurant. The lobster roll (hot) is Kait's pick, John likes the French Dip. We both devour the fries.
We honestly can't say if the pizza or burgers are better, but it's a fun spot!
Old school walk up ice cream!
Funky and delicious brunch!
