YES! We highly encourage guests to come up to Granby a few days before the wedding to acclimate to the elevation. We will be in Granby from Wednesday August 20th through the weekend. Come early if you can, we'd love to hang out with you before our big day!
The base elevation is 8,202 feet or 2,500 meters and the ceremony site is even higher at 9,200 feet or 2,804 meters above sea level. Attitude sickness is common so please stay hydrated and drink more water then you usually would! The thinner air not only makes breathing more difficult but it makes the sun more intense. We recommend wearing sunscreen and reapplying all day if you're outside. The mountains also get cold at night so be sure to bring a light down or spring/fall jacket with you! The days will be hot but the temps will dip to 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) or below after dark.
In addition to clothing for the wedding, we recommend that you bring a refillable water bottle, a warm jacket, hiking boots or athletic shoes, sunscreen, and lots of layers of clothing for the ever-changing mountain weather. Colorado is a casual place so jeans/shorts and moisture-wicking t-shirts are encouraged for all outdoor activities outside the wedding!
We recommend cocktail attire for the wedding but we will be outside for the ceremony and cocktail hour so we encourage comfortable shoes and an extra layer of clothing for after dark. Hats (other than baseball caps!) are welcome to protect you from the sun during the ceremony.
There are several campgrounds close to the venue. If you enjoy the outdoors, check out the following campsites/RV parks: Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains Willow Creek Campground Sunset Point Campground YMCA of the Rockies - Snow Mountain Ranch Midland Campground outside Winter Park
