Flight
If you will be flying in, any of the Bay Area airports - San Francisco, San Jose, or Oakland - will work. If you don't plan on renting a car; flying into Monterey is recommended, but ground transportation options are available from San Francisco or San Jose as well. From San Francisco or Oakland airports it is around a 1 hour and 50 minute drive to Carmel, and about 1 hour and 15 minutes from San Jose. The Monterey Airport is very close (10 minute drive to Carmel) but has few direct flight options.
