On our way home from a regatta on the Puget Sound, Nick suggested we stay out a bit longer and sail a lap around Lake Union. It was the first sunny day after weeks of hazy skies due to wildfire smoke, so it was easy to say yes to another few hours on the boat. As we were getting ready to take the boat back to our dock, Nick turned on a Frankie Valli song and asked me to join him on the bow of the boat. After the shock of realizing no one was steering, I turned to see Nick on one knee pulling something out of his pocket. Somehow between my frazzled "what are you doing? Is this really happening? Are you serious?" Nick asked me to marry him and I said yes. The surprise was not over though. As we pulled into dock our friends Allie & Logan were there to capture the moment and celebrate with us.
Mazama is a tiny town in the Methow Valley a few hours northeast of Seattle. In the winter it is a haven for cross country skiing, with 120 miles of groomed ski trails connecting the towns of Mazama & Winthrop. In the summer, Seattleites flock here to hike, mountain bike, rock climb and enjoy sunshine before mid-July. Kait has been coming to the Methow for the last 8 years, but only since bringing Nick to ski in 2017 have we really grown to love the valley. It is a dream of ours to buy a house or plot land here to use year round. We're very excited for you all to experience beauty of the Methow Valley and to stop asking us 'what is Mazama?'
