Both of us were employed at HUP (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania), with Kevin working as a registered nurse and Kaileen as a physician's assistant. One day, Kevin received a notification on his phone about a new admission to his floor. After settling the patient in, unbeknownst to him, Kaileen was also preparing to attend to the same patient as his healthcare provider. When Kevin observed Kaileen walking down the hallway, he was struck by her beauty and professionalism. Intrigued, he remained in the room to witness Kaileen conducting her assessment and fulfilling admission requirements with the patient. Once Kaileen left the room, Kevin contemplated messaging her on the HUP messaging app to propose a date. However, he hesitated, considering the possibilities – what if she had a boyfriend, was married, or simply wasn't interested? He also worried about potential repercussions, such as a report to HR that could jeopardize his job. Feeling a bit disheartened by the what-ifs, Kevin decided to explore Hinge, and to his surprise, Kaileen was the first profile he came across. After spending hours contemplating the right words, Kevin messaged her. Eventually, they went on their inaugural date at POPE (Pub on Passyunk East). Despite the challenges posed by COVID, both decided to persist in their relationship while simultaneously caring for COVID-positive patients. Their connection deepened, leading to meeting each other's families, cohabitation, and, ultimately, Kevin proposing right outside HUP on the Schuylkill River Trail, the very place where they first crossed paths.
