We met at Fairmont State University in 2009 in Human Biology class and became mutual friends on Facebook. Let’s fast forward two years.. Josh and I had another class together in 2011 - Biomechanics (hell)! Josh and I started talking on Facebook. He asked if I wanted to hangout with him on my birthday. So, I obviously said yes! We were literally together almost every single day after my 20th birthday. Josh and I “talked” for five months, and at that point I was getting so annoyed because I never thought he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend! I was going to give up.
Well, you guessed it. Josh finally asked me to be his girlfriend when the ball dropped on New Year’s! Truth be told.. I think he asked me to be his girlfriend on that day so he couldn’t forget our anniversary.
Josh and I decided to take a vacation during the pandemic - yeah, we know that we are crazy! While in Savannah, Josh decided to surprise me with a horse and carriage ride through the city. I literally cried when he told me because I was dying to do this. He didn’t want to tell me about the horse and carriage at first, but he knew if he didn’t tell me and I didn’t have the “right outfit” on then I would be upset. OF COURSE he did not want to hear that nonsense. The morning of the horse and carriage ride, we ate breakfast at Huey’s On The River! Seriously.. I could have ate there everyday. Josh didn’t eat as much as usual, which I thought was weird. However, I just thought he was sick to the stomach due to 100 degree weather, so I didn’t think much of it! Well, we met our tour guide and our lovely horse, Dublin’. While going through the entire city and obsessing over all the historical houses, I was just in AWE. Our tour guide was sharing this story about the fountain in Columbia Square. She was going into details about how the fountain was called the “eternal love fountain” and how people go make wishes there. She stopped by the fountain and told us she always tells the couples to go make a wish there before the tour ends. We stepped right in front of the fountain, I dug for coins in my wallet for us. Josh and I both made wishes. After I made my wish, Josh asked “What was your wish?” and I said “Josh, I cannot tell you!! It won’t come true!!” I started to grab my bag.. while he started to grab my hands. At that moment, I knew my wish I literally had just made.. was coming true. He had a photographer hidden in the bushes to capture this magical moment that I now can cherish forever. Josh knew I wanted to be completely surprised, and man did he do so! People ask all the time, “Are you sure you didn’t know?” “Didn’t you have a feeling?” .. absolutely not. TRUST ME, if I knew, I would have worn something completely different! He proposed on our 8 and 1/2 year mark.
