Question

What is OVY Camp?

Answer

OVY stands for Optimist Volunteers for Youth, Inc. OVY is a non-profit organization that aims to provide youth with a safe, enjoyable, and educational summer camp experience at little to no cost; while offering character building opportunities and promoting service, volunteerism, and leadership within the community. Optimist Clubs from the San Francisco Bay Area established OVY Camp in 1952 to provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational camping experience for at-risk youth. Since its beginnings over 60 years ago, OVY Camp's mission has not changed. OVY Camp continues to raise financial and material resources throughout the year in order to bring economically disadvantaged youth from the Bay Area to summer camp. One of OVY's main fundraising strategies is to rent the property for weddings, retreats, reunions, and other non-profit organizations. By choosing OVY Camp and Event Center for your event, you are helping send hundreds of at-risk youth to a high-quality summer camp program.

Answer

Bring out your summer camp best! Saturday, the wedding will be a little more dressed up. Think sundresses or cocktail dresses and dressed up pants with a button down. No tie required. The weather can be temperamental this time of year. Bring layers in case of cooler weather. The grounds are mixture of grass, gravel, and forest trails. Please wear appropriate footwear. Heels are discouraged, Low wedges should be okay.

Question

What are the cabins like?

Answer

The cabins are very basic. There are no power outlets inside the cabins, but there is an overhead light. There are bunk beds and mattresses provided, but you need your own bedding. There are communal showers located at the pool area. Restrooms are located in the cabin areas.

Question

is there electricity for phone charging and hair curling?

Answer

There is no electricity in the camping cabins, but there are outlets in the bathrooms and around the property. Be prepared to share the outlets with everyone else, and definitely bring a portable charger/extra battery for your phone if you have one!

Question

Are there showers available on site?

Answer

For guests staying onsite, there are 3 shower options. There are showers located in the men’s restroom located near Scheid Hall, on the pool deck, and in Willow Glen. Please note that similar to the rest of the summer camp, these are not glamorous. Be sure to pack a towel and a pair of flip flops might not be a bad idea either.

Question

Can we bring our own drinks

Answer

Yes, you are allowed to bring your own ice chest/alcohol. We will be providing drinks during the wedding but we are encouraging our guests to bring their favorite beverages for before and after.
