How We Met

You would think that because our childhood best friends were also best friends we would have had many opportunities growing up to have the perfect meet cute like you see in all the silly Rom-coms on Netflix. With all of birthdays, weekend get togethers, and even me teepeeing Jordan’s house we never really connected. That was until those same childhood friends of ours decided it was time we all got back together again the day before Thanksgiving 2018. Jordan walked in the door looking as dapper as ever and (with a few glasses of champagne courage) I greeted him and insisted on get him a drink. We had our moment and we clicked instantly, telling each other all about who we had become since graduating high school and college. We each went our separate ways after that holiday but we couldn’t stop taking to each other! After a trip back home for Christmas from me, and a trip to Vegas from Jordan that was it, we knew we had to have each other in our lives, and we have been together ever since!

The Proposal

Jordan: If you know Julius, you know she likes to plan things, loves holidays, and has a thing for food. So for Valentine's Day she planned the perfect dinner and when Jules woke up on February 15th she went off to work like it was just a normal day. Little did she know while she had been busy trying to make our Valentine’s Day something special I had been working for months to make the next day something she would never forget. I had created her dream ring, a book with our love story in it, made reservations at a fancy restaurant in town and gathered all the supplies to turn our backyard into a romantic scene that could compete with the Bachelorette! Jules knew we were going out to dinner, because we weren’t able to celebrate Valentine’s Day last year I insisted we celebrate two days this year to make up for it, when she got home from work we got ready for dinner and thats when the nerves set in. Jules: When we got back to the house from dinner the front door was locked, Jordan suggested that we go in through the back patio door. When we entered the backyard my heart about stopped. Tea lights and rose petals created a beautiful path to a table and chairs. It was surrounded by string lights, lanterns and photos of us. I’m pretty sure I blacked out as soon as a started walking, with my eyes already welling up with tears. Jordan sat me down and took a book off of the table. He began to read to me, the book was about us and why he fell in love with me. When it came to the last page he handed me the book, got down on one knee, took out a ring box, and asked me to marry him. I didn’t even look at the book or the ring, I just stared at him and said YES! I cried, we hugged, then we both looked at the ring it was perfect! This whole night was perfect, everything I had ever dreamed of! Just when I thought it was over our parents and his siblings poured out of our house showering us with love and congratulations! We had champagne and cake while we celebrated.
