We had been talking for a few weeks and made plans to meet on Saturday 2-12-2022. After both working that day we met up at Julie’s place to watch the documentary about Ted Bundy. This led to us staying up all night long watching both documentaries, and an entire tv show with the longest title known to man!! We talked and talked and watched tv till 6:00 am the following day!! That same day was the Super Bowl, and Ethan invited Julie over to watch it with him, his sister and his brother in-law. He had never brought anyone home, not even to meet his sister. This is when we knew things were different.
Ethan had wanted to take us to Hoppy Taco because he loved it so much, and wanted to show Julie. We walked in, and there was a birthday party going on. Julie was quick to turn around but Ethan was persistent on going in. We got up to the main part of the restaurant, and it was very clear this was a reserved spot for someone’s birthday party. We got out of there so quick, and went to a bar close by to get some wings! All in all a great night, and story!!
We had been very serious and very intentional as to where the relationship was headed. We both knew that this was going to be something great and special from the very first week of knowing each other! We had talked about getting married very early in our relationship, and even went to a jewelry store to look at engagement rings. We had decided on a set we both loved and Ethan kept the ring in our safe for months. He had a bunch of different ideas as to how he was going to propose, but he’s not a good secret keeper and that is even more evident later in the story. He told Julie that it would be sometime in August. This obviously wasn’t the date that it happened, and that’s because right after we had gotten back home from Julie’s families vacation he decided that the Sunday after we got back was the perfect time. We had been going to the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge and walking across to have a picnic/date night for the past few months. This was the perfect plan because Julie wouldn’t suspect us going to the same spot we always go every Sunday, right? WRONG. Julie had a ton of suspicion. There were a few reasons. 1: she’s a detective. 2:her friend was suddenly coming to town to hang out 3:Ethan kept buying tons and tons of cheese, crackers, huge platters of meats, and cookies. Odd. 4:he made a really weird comment about her nails being a little chipped and REALLY wanted her to go get them fixed. 5: Julie’s brother Curtis can’t lie to save his life. She called him to talk and casually asked what he was doing, as she normally does. He responded with “shhhh it’s Jef…Ummm i’m in drive way, at a store…for stuff.” Suspicious. 6:as we were walking across the bridge, he kept putting his hands in his pockets, and was on his phone more then usual. Then as they were walking to the spot they usually go to, he wanted to “switch things up” and go to a new part of the park. This spot was in the shade, under some trees. When they were walking up Julie recognized the picnic basket she had. Then Ethan Proposed!! He had some of their family members and friends come and be apart of this special day!! We all had a picnic and popped champagne! It was the perfect day!!
