Juliana's perspective: The first time I officially met Truen was during a group lunch at Subway. I had walked across the busy street to Subway with some of my freshman girls because everyone who had a car left before us. We were some of the last ones there so we were waiting in the line. Truen walked in and because I hadn't met him, I introduced myself. I notice that despite my efforts to make conversation, he wasn't really giving me long answers to my questions. I remember wondering what was going on with that. Truen's perspective: The first day I met Juliana was in a Subway line for lunch at Oral Roberts University. She was the person in front of me and she introduced herself to me. She was super nice but I was standoffish because I was trying to stay away from dating. All I knew was that she was really pretty and I couldn't take my eyes off her. I had a big crush. I still remember what she was wearing, a floral skirt and a white blouse!
Truen's perspective: Originally, I had a big crush on Juliana. Normally I don't have this much courage, but I decided to ask her out in person. And that kickstarted the beginning of a great friendship because she did not want to date me. Three weeks after I asked her out, we hung out randomly and decided that we could become friends. Then about five months later, after a long winter break away from each other, we decided to start dating. Juliana's perspective: Truen and I had spent some time together hanging out in groups, but we hadn't really talked. One day, he shouted something in Hebrew while I was walking to my dorm. I ended up texting him to ask him what it meant. He answered my question and then asked a few of his own. A few weeks later, he walked up to me while I was working and asked if I wanted to go on a date. I turned him down and then got Covid. This meant that we didn't see each other for about 3 weeks. Eventually, we hung out and he decided that we could be friends. Because I wasn't ready to start anything just yet, he spent about 5 months being my friend. Over our Christmas break, I decided that if he ever asked me out again, I would say yes. That spring semester we had many awkward questions from people about if we were together and how long we had been dating. Eventually, he asked me to be his girlfriend and of course, I said yes!
