Matt made a very positive first impression on Julia on their first date by sporting a pair of what he referred to as "urban hiking boots." Julia was dressed fashionably, as always, and Matt's unique choice of footwear almost tragically ended the romance before it started! Beating the odds, they wound up talking, laughing and having an amazing time together late into the night. They both knew they would see each other again. But it seemed love would have to wait as Julia had plans to spend several months in the UK right after they met. Matt knew how special Julia was and wasn't going to let a small ocean get in the way. He surprised her by flying to London, where they spent a few days in the English countryside in Bath. They gradually fell in love and became inseparable, and spent the next few years travelling to all sorts of exciting places and spending time with each others friends and families. Three years later Matt knew it was the right time to ask for Julia’s hand in marriage. First, he got some great footwear for the occasion. Next, he chose a trip to Israel they had planned to ask the big question. In his usual style he took his time, and waited 2 solid weeks into the trip for the exact perfect moment to propose to Julia. In the waning days of the vacation, Julia was a bit puzzled by his newfound obsession with the most beautiful beach in Israel, located several hours away in a remote part of the coast. Unsurprisingly they had the beach to themselves, the perfect moment. Matt and Julia took a romantic stroll on the beach at sunset. Matt took off Julia’s sunglasses, looked her deeply in the eyes, told her exactly why he loved her so much, and dropped to one knee. She said “Yes!” That night they called their parents and friends to share the amazing news. Julia’s family was the least surprised as a nervous Matt had called them at the beginning of the trip. When they got home the celebration continued and the wedding plans began!
