We met in the Spring of 2013 just as Julia was finishing up her last week of undergrad at Purdue through some mutual friends. During our night out, Tyler mentioned he was moving to Chicago for law school at John Marshall in the coming months. It was not until a few of visits to Chicago, a couple new apartments, and the first week of Tyler's 1L year, that things really took off. Tyler called one night to go explore his neighborhood, and we set off on our first adventure. We met a man coming back from a music festival who tried to give us a sack of chicken nuggets. This man became our tour guide and led us through Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood to one of our favorite spots in the city, Nick's Beer Garden. Since then, we have never stopped exploring our neighborhood, and continue to find reasons to love our city, and each other.
With the help of some friends, Steph and Michael, Tyler set up a double date at the Lincoln Park Zoo. This was one of the first stops on our adventure through Chicago at the beginning of our relationship. We worked our way through the zoo with Michael chiming in, "oh this looks like a good photo op, want us to take a picture?" after every couple animals. After about 10 pictures of each couple and countless animals later, we made our way to the bridge overlooking the lily pond that had a great skyline view. Tyler "softly" (read: whisper yelled) "is this THE bridge?"
Tyler's family has a home in the Western Michigan beach town of South Haven. Through out our relationship we have spent many weekends away in this part of Michigan, and due to its close proximity to Chicago and one of our favorite places, we could not have chosen a more perfect location to celebrate with you all. We hope that you fall in love with the area as much as we have over the past few years.
