How We Met

3.24.23

It was at a wedding for Joy’s sidekick Katelynn and her lover Jesse. Joy walked down the church steps to go help and BAM, she saw Mason!!! Then she turned and ran upstairs giggling with a flushed face. She collected herself then came back! Ready to take charge, so she started bossing Mason around, making a joke about how she sadly has to walk with him down the aisle. Amelia, her beautiful cousin said you don’t have to walk with him you get to. Throughout the night Joy obviously flirted with Mason. After efforts of trying she got told she was coming on too strong by Katelynn so she asked Mason and he said no. That night she went home and started to plan the wedding. Joy knew by how he answered the questions and how patient he was with the interrogation that he was a kind hearted, loving, humorous, Godly man and she wanted him to one day be her husband. Then it was the next day, and Joy grabbed Mason’s arm, which made him express jokingly he wanted consent before he was touched because well he wasn’t a touchy person back then. They did the wedding, then she interrogated him to make sure he was the one. She joked around outside after the wedding asking if he had a phone which he did. Joy then went home and later got a text from Mason who somehow got her number, by asking Katelynn for it. He wanted to go on a date and she said no because she was hanging out with her dad. Then two weeks later they met up in Madison and Mason decided after making a checklist to ask out Joy; and the rest is history !!!!

The Proposal

9.24.2023

The day I proposed to Joy was one of the most nerve-wracking days of my life. The whole weekend actually. It was the weekend of Joys birthday, Friday I arrived in town, Saturday the party was thrown and Sunday (the birthday proper), I planned to pop the question. Joy knew something was in the works, after all we had been discussing this for a while and both knew what we wanted; each other. This wasn't a huge relief on the nerves however, after all marriage is a life-long commitment. I meandered, dodged questions about the proposal and asked my own probing questions trying to talk my way out of the rock in my stomach. I did this for two straight days, but I found it hard to really connect with Joy because we were constantly surrounded by family (whom we love dearly) and trying to balance entertaining them and enjoying each other. So, on the third day I pulled Joy away from her nap (do NOT recommend) and drove her out to a park pavilion. There we spent almost two hours chilling with each other, talking and decompressing from the busy schedule. I interrogated her to my heart's content, and to no one's surprise she passed with flying colors. That time with her confirmed all my suspicions: that she is the most patient, understanding, empathetic, fun loving, moral and Godly woman I could become one with. So after that I took her back to the truck and sat with her for a few more moments before getting on my knee and asking her to be my wife! We promised each other we would work through our problems together, no matter how impossible it may seem at times. After our big moment we drove back to her home surrounded by the most beautiful sunset, calling our families to share the news.

For all the days along the way
