We met outside of my front door! One summer evening Jarrod was visiting his mother, who coincidentally was my next door neighbor. That night I was returning home from a night out with the girls, and he was outside talking to a friend on the phone. We exchanged greetings as I walked into my apartment. When I came back outside to go back to the car we caught each other’s eyes and he approached me wanting to know more about “the girl next door”! We literally talked outside until the sun came up! From then on we knew there was a connection.
The proposal was a total surprise! He talked to my friend Val about what he wanted to do and she set up a couples dinner with friends. We All arrived at Big Easy oyster bar excited to see each other since we had all been quarantine due to Covid-19. I was under the impression that it was our routine couples dinner, completely unaware of what was to come! We were filled with laughter, and even toasted to good health in these trying times! At the end of the evening we ordered dessert. When the waitress brought out my dessert she placed the strawberry cheesecake on the table and on the plate it read “Will you Marry Me?” I immediately smiled and giggled in shock as he reached for my hand, asked me to stand up, and got on one knee. He kept it short and sweet and asked me to be his wife! And of course I said YES!!
