If you know Jordan, you know that she has always been skeptical of "online dating." However, in the middle of starting her career, Jordan's co-workers quickly convinced her that she needed to join a dating app to "have fun" and "explore" her new life of being out of college as a single woman. Not too many weeks into swiping and not answering anybody that reached out, Jordan began to pray about whether or not this "online thing" was a good idea. She had a message from a guy named Josiah, who asked if she had tried a new sushi place in Charleston. It caught her eye, yet she still did not respond. One morning on the way to work, Jordan was stopped at a red light in downtown Charleston. Crossing the sidewalk was a very familiar, and handsome, face. She pulled out her phone and opened her dating app. Right at the top of her messages, was this face. Josiah. She decided to message him back and set up their first date. Josiah, being an outdoors lover, asked Jordan if she wanted to go on a walk around the Charleston lake. Jordan, being Jordan, thought "what could go wrong walking around a secluded area with a man I met on the internet?" Fortunately for her father's sanity, it rained and they were forced to make indoor plans. "Want to go thrifting?" Josiah's message read. Thus, the two pulled into Goodwill and spent 4 hours roaming each aisle... again, and again, and again. Finally, the two had prior commitments that they had to leave for. They ran for Jordan's car in the pouring rain. They said their goodbyes and decided that they wanted to see each other again. That night, Josiah cancelled plans with another girl and Jordan deleted her dating app. The rest was history. Over the next few months, the two were inseparable. Knowing they had limited time before Josiah left for Marine bootcamp, they fell in love almost overnight; getting to know each other's quips and quirks. Since January 2023, Josiah has lived more than 700 miles from Jordan. They have ironically re-joined the world of “online dating” as they have been forced to resort to FaceTimes, Snapchats, and texts to communicate. Josiah asked Jordan to marry him on May 26th in Washington, DC. Soon, the online communication will be in the past and a life together will be all that remains.
